GP and Russian Roulette

BANG.

Imagine you are sitting at a table.  Someone has a gun pointed at your head, and a person is holding a revolver.  Imagine that this revolver is holding bullets.  You don't know how many.  You can guess at how many.  He gives the chamber a spin, closes it up, and points it at your head.

Sounds scary doesn't it?

Welcome to the world of gastroparesis.  However, is the world of a gastroparesis sufferer, the gun is the food.  When a GP sufferer eats a meal, they are taking a gamble.  Everything we eat is a gamble.  Some of us, know that the odds are stacked against us, other feel their odds are ok.  But in the end, it is always a gamble.

Now, some days, there are less bullets in the gun.  And certain foods equal less bullets as well, but there will always be at least one bullet in the chamber.  Even on a good day, you can still have everything go so wrong.  Obviously, some foods will add more bullets to that gun.  Every meal is a different gun.

In the end, if we eat too much, our luck DOES run out.  If we eat a GP friendly food on a bad day, more than likely, the odds are stacked against you, and you still may get shot.  If we eat a GP unfriendly food on a bad day, then yes, you get shot.  That gun is pretty much fully loaded.  I feel if you are having a bad day, consider your chamber at least half loaded.  So, the GP friendly food you eat on a bad day could still mean, you get shot.

This is what I would consider...

Bad day = 50% loaded
Good day = 10% loaded (after all, the gun will always be loaded)

GP friendly foods will add anywhere from 0% to 50% of course, depending on how well you tolerate them.

I know things are starting to get technical, but I'll simplify it.  The Russian Roulette theory is thus:

Every food we eat is a gamble.  Every meal we eat is a gun pointed at our heads and a trigger being pulled.  We may get lucky and eat the meal just fine, and other days, we'll eat that same meal and get shot just because it is a worse day.  All we can do is take it day by day.

Good luck to all GPers out there.  I may revise this to make it stream better.  Feel free to comment below.
